The home pages of Charles G Goldfarb inventor of SGML and father of its descendents: HTML and XML. SGML is the International Standard (ISO 8879) language for structured document and data representation. SGML was invented in 1974 by Charles G Goldfarb who led a 12-year technical effort by several hundred people to develop its present form as an International Standard.
