AIM Inc. is the global trade association for the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry. Covering technologies such as barcode, radio frequency Identification (RFID), card technologies (magnetic stripe, smart card, contactless card, optical card), radio frequency data communications (RFDC), biometrics, and electronic article surveillance (EAS). AIM is the global trade association of providers and users of components, networks, systems, and services that manage the collection and integration of data with information management systems. AIM strives to stimulate the understanding, adoption, and use of technology and member company products and services through setting standards, marketing and education, market research, advocacy, and information technology industry relations.

The vision of the Auto-ID Center is to create a universal environment in which computers understand the world without help from human beings. Auto-ID technology will change the way we exchange information and products by merging bits (computers) and atoms (everyday life) in a way that dramatically enhances daily life in the all inclusive global arena of supply and demand—the supply chain.
